As well as using a range of commercial clays, Krystyna sources wild clay from the shores of the Fleet Lagoon.  This is known as Oxford clay, a seam of marine sedimentary rock from the Jurassic age, 150 million years ago.  The raw clay is processed to remove organic material and micro fossils, and fires to a red colour, giving most spectacular results when used in combination with other clays such as porcelain and stoneware varieties.
